Banca Giuratale, Rabat, Gozo
Beyond Departure and Return is a collection inspired by the parable of the Prodigal Son, not as a straightforward retelling, but as a meditation on memory. Each painting reflects how the father, the elder son, and the younger son might remember and recall the same events: the departure and the return. Memory is never whole: landscape fade at the edges, repeats with differences, and reshapes itself through an informed narrative.

Philosophers like Ricoeur, Derrida, and Deleuze remind us that memory is narrative, archive, and distortion all at once. This collection is less about a single story and more about a constellation of recollections of overlapping memories, an invitation to reflect on how our own recollections shape the way we live and move on.

Special thanks goes to cultural Heritage Directorate, within the Ministry for Gozo and Planning, for their support in this exhibition.
